Magic Squares

Magic Squares is used to exercise mental Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. Magic Squares presents an 6x6 grid of numbers and presents problems by selecting pairs of numbers from the grid at random. For example, if the selected pair of numbers are 5 and 3, and you are attempting multiplication, the problem ? x ? = 15 is presented. You are asked to click two numbers from the grid that will multiply to 15. If the problem the computer constructs had been ? x ? = 16 you could click on cells containing 2 and 8 or you could click cells containing 4 and 4. Either selection gives the correct solution of 16.

Since the Magic Squares grid is constructed from an array of 36 cells (6x6), up to 18 problems are presented before the game ends.

You can choose from easy, medium or hard problems. Easy presents numbers in the range of 0 to 5, Medium in the range of 0 to 7 and Hard presents numbers in the range of 0 to 9.

Note that when attempting subtraction problems negative solutions can be generated. For example, if the two selected numbers are 2 and 6 the problem the computer constructs is 2 - 6 = -4. To avoid negative solutions to problems check the Positive Problems Only check box.
